When the installation team arrived at this Edinburgh garden, they discovered their customer was an acclaimed author and award-winning poet who now does his writing from a Booths Garden Studio.
His work has earned major recognition, including the T.S. Eliot Prize and the Forward Poetry Prize for the same collection, alongside many other prestigious honours. Before turning to writing full time in 1996 he had worked as a software engineer, and his body of work spans poetry collections, novels, memoirs and short stories published in leading outlets.
His writing draws heavily on environmental themes and deep ecological concerns — and the quiet, dedicated space of a garden studio is exactly the kind of environment that work demands.
