Electrical Spec for Garden Office Installation
An explanation of the electrical specification for a garden office, including using a local electrician for Part P certified final connections, with Rob Booth's pricing.
Below is an extract from current building regulations explaining that it complies for you to employ a local electrician to do the final connections and the Part P certification on the whole garden studio installation.
Rob charges £960 including VAT up to 40m for mains connection, and this includes Part P certification. This assumes that no trenching is required. Rob Booth is Alex’s twin brother and is a qualified electrician. Many electricians are not allowed to issue Part P certificates, since they need to do a course (which costs almost £4,000) and then there is an annual fee of about £700.
The installation covers the garden studio consumer unit (fusebox) and armoured mains cable. Air conditioning units are “A” rated for efficiency, with the standard model producing roughly 4kW of power for every 1kW of energy used. The standard air conditioner suits 16–30 sqm, with a larger unit available for 24–45 sqm.
